AdaptDx Pro® Test
AdaptDx Pro® Test
Are you worried about vision loss as you get older? Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) affects approximately 1 in 8 adults aged 60 and above. This condition gradually damages the macula, a part of the retina that plays a vital role in central vision used for reading, watching TV, recognizing faces, and driving. Unfortunately, AMD is the leading cause of blindness among adults in developed nations, and it will only become more common as the aging population increases.
AdaptDx Pro® test by MacuLogix®
If you’re aged 50 or older, have a family history of AMD, or have trouble seeing clearly at night, you may be at risk of developing AMD or could already have this disease. Many people with this condition may overlook the symptoms and dismiss them as a normal part of aging. Unfortunately, disregarding these symptoms and delaying diagnosis may lead to more severe vision loss.
At Casey Optical Co. in Albuquerque, we offer AdaptDx Pro® dark adaptation testing by MacuLogix®, which can detect the presence of AMD up to three years earlier than other tests. The device measures how quickly your eyes adapt to low-light conditions, which is a key indicator of AMD. The test is non-invasive and typically takes around 10 minutes to complete.
During the test, you’ll wear a lightweight headset that conforms to your head and is padded for your comfort. The friendly onboard AI technician, Theia™, will guide you through the test and let you know how you’re doing. By measuring your dark adaptation speed, your doctor will receive a single number called Rod Intercept® (RI®), which can help determine if you have AMD.
Don’t ignore the early warning signs of AMD. If you’re at risk for this condition, talk to your doctor about taking the AdaptDx Pro® test at Casey Optical Co. in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Early diagnosis and treatment can help preserve your vision.
